Adding Media to Wondershare Filmora:A Beginner’s Guide

Learn to Import and arrange your Video, Audio, and Images on the timeline with Ease.

Getting Started with Wondershare Filmora: Adding Media to Your Timeline

Starting a new video project in Wondershare Filmora begins with importing your desired media and placing it on the timeline. This guide will walk you through the simple steps to get your video, audio, and images ready for editing.

Step 1: Importing Your Files

First, you need to import your media into the program. You can do this by clicking the “Import” button located in the Project Media panel. A window will pop up, allowing you to select the video, audio, or image files you want to use from your computer.

Step 2: Adding Media to the Timeline

Once your files have been imported, they will appear as thumbnails in the Project Media panel. From here, you have a few easy ways to add them to your timeline at the bottom of the screen:

  • Drag and Drop: The most common method is simply to drag and drop the media thumbnail directly onto the timeline. Place videos and images on the video tracks and audio files on the audio tracks.
  • Use the Plus Icon: Hover your mouse over a media thumbnail, and a plus icon will appear. Clicking this icon automatically adds the media to the first available track on your timeline.
  • Insert Option: You can also select the video, image, or audio file in the Project Media panel and then click the “Insert” button.
  • Direct from Your Computer: For even faster workflow, you can drag and drop video and audio files directly from a folder on your computer into the timeline.

Step 3: Arranging Your Media

After inserting your media, you can easily position it. Simply click and drag the media along the timeline to place it at your desired time and order.
