Create Pro-Level Lower Thirds in Filmora – Step-by-Step for Beginners!

This beginner-friendly tutorial will walk you through every step of adding and customizing text in your videos.

Getting Started

Once you’re in the editor, the first step is to add text. To do that, go to the top and click the Titles tab. You’ll see various categories like Openers, Titles, Lower Thirds, and more. Scroll through and choose a style that fits your video. For this tutorial, we’ll use the Default Title.

Customizing Your Text

Drag and drop the title onto the timeline. Then, double-click on the timeline to open the text customization options.
You’ll see several windows:

Left Windows: This is where you’ll find Text Presets and Text Animation windows.

Middle Windows: Here, you can type your text and change its font and color. For this guide, we’ll use the Impact font. You can also bold or italicize your text.

Right Windows: This is your Title Group Controller, where you can change the position (X and Y) and rotation of the text.

Scroll down in the middle window to find more options. You can change the color of the text, and if you’re not satisfied with the basic options, click “More” to see additional colors. You can also adjust the text spacing between letters and the alignment of the text.

Advanced Features

You can also use the Advanced editor for more features. Here, you can add multiple shapes, pictures, and animations at the same time.

  • To add a new text box, click the text icon.
  • To add shapes, click the shapes icon. You can adjust the size of the shapes and change their color.
  • You can also add a logo or an image by clicking the import icon.

Adding Animations

On the left side of the screen, go to the Presets window to add a text style. Scroll down and choose the one you like.

To add an animation, go to the Animation tab. Scroll down and choose your desired animation. For this tutorial, we’ll use the Typewriter animation. After you’ve selected it, you can see the animation in the preview window.

When using the advanced editor, you can add individual animations to each shape or text element. Select each element one by one, then choose the animation you like.

Once you’ve made all your changes, replay your video to see the results. If you are satisfied, click OK to save your changes.
